This plan lays out the framework for the Association’s development from 2026 - 2030

We are delighted to share with you the IACP Strategic Plan 2026–2030, a roadmap for the next phase of our organisation and our professions. Developed with the future in mind, this strategy sets out a clear vision for how we will support our members, strengthen the professions, and enhance the contribution of counselling and psychotherapy across Ireland over the coming years.

We are launching this strategy at an important time for counselling and psychotherapy in Ireland. Demand for mental health supports continues to grow, public awareness of the value of therapeutic services is increasing, and the profession is preparing for the transition to statutory regulation under CORU.
As Ireland’s largest professional body for counsellors and psychotherapists, IACP's greatest strength is our membership community. More than 7,000 members work every day in private practice, healthcare settings, schools, community services, voluntary organisations, and many other environments, improving the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities throughout the country.

We would like to sincerely thank the many members, volunteers, staff, and stakeholders who contributed to the development of this strategic plan. Your insights, experience, and commitment have helped shape a strategy that is ambitious, practical, and firmly focused on the future of our professions.

Together, we are building a strong and vibrant future for counselling and psychotherapy in Ireland. This strategy provides a clear framework to guide our work over the next five years, ensuring that we continue to support our members, advance professional standards, and promote access to high-quality therapeutic services for those who need them.
