This innovative, comprehensive, practical and evidence informed Diploma in Developmental Trauma Informed Practitioner is appropriate for counsellors, psychotherapists, and play therapists who provide therapeutic support or wish to provide therapeutic support to parents and carers of children who have experienced developmental trauma.
Adverse Childhood Experiences can have a negative effect on a child’s internal working model, their sense of identity and sensory systems resulting in dissociative responses, attachment difficulties, an inability to regulation and learn. The goal of providing therapeutic support and trauma informed psychoeducation to parentscarers of children who have experienced developmental trauma is to aid them in fostering feelings of safety, security, connectedness, and acceptance in the child, so that the child can begin to heal, form secure attachments and reach their unique potential.
Completing this Diploma will build and enhance participants capacity to offer therapeutic support and trauma informed psychoeducation to parents and carers so they can be resourced and supported in therapeutically parenting their children who have developmental trauma histories in order to prevent parental/ carer compassion fatique, secondary trauma and burnout. Participants will develop the competences and acquire the depth and breadth of knowledge required to therapeutically support parents and cares of children who have experienced developmental trauma to parent with intention, empathy, understanding and insight.
This Diploma will have a strong focus on neuroscience, interpersonal neurobiological and attachment theory ensuring a clear theoretical framework underpinned by research and the principals of Trauma Informed Care.
