Scott’s primary training is in Logotherapy, a talking therapy that focuses on finding meaning in unavoidable suffering and using that insight to facilitate recovery. He offers Logotherapy (face-to-face and online) for clients experiencing distress, whether caused by mental illness, or ‘life issues’ (grief, work stress, etc). Scott is the first, and as yet only Logotherapist to offer services in a clinical setting in Northern Ireland. He recently (December 2021) co-founded, with Prof. Paul Miller, the Viktor Frankl Centre at the Mirabilis Health Institute, a fully accredited training and clinical services provider.
As an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Europe Accredited Consultant, Scott has a wealth of experience in treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, Dissociative Identity Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Anxiety, Depression and a range of other issues. Scott regularly utilises EMDR and Logotherapy together, where this synergy is indicated, to provide an holistic therapeutic approach.
He is an accredited member of the following: the National Counselling Society (UK), the International Association for Logotherapy and Existential Analysis (Austria), and EMDR Europe (All-Ireland).
Scott has/had clients in Europe, North America and Australia, and specialises in providing therapy for other therapists and counsellors.
Scott was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2010 and is an active part of a community of 30,000 changemakers, innovators and entrepreneurs. He was also recently admitted as a Fellow of the Mental Health Collective, elected Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, and is an Honorary Lecturer in Mental Health at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Queen's University Belfast.
