This Diploma In Integrative Therapeutic Play has been designed specifically for  qualified Counsellors, Art Therapist and Psychotherapists who wish to expand their clinical practice to work therapeutically with children who present with mild to moderate challenges.

Diploma In Integrative Therapeutic Play Skills is a 31 day programme  delivered over 14 months through a blended learning format. Participants will gain in-depth theoretical knowledge along with the clinical skills required to work effectively in an integrative manner with children  who present with mild to moderate challenges. Participants will learn not only a range of therapeutic play theories, approaches, and techniques, but also how to conceptualize the play therapy process from an integrative perspective.  A strong emphasis will be placed on developing participants therapeutic play skills, expanding participants understanding of  neurobiology, working in partnership with parents and the therapeutic use of self. Participants learning  and skill development will be further enhanced through the use of a fully equipped play therapy unit.

Learning Outcomes:

 

  • Gain an in-depth theoretical knowledge of child development and child psychology theories.
  • Acquire a sound understanding of the principles underlying therapeutic play and the appropriate use of techniques.
  • Demonstrate a competent understanding of attachment types and their implications for therapeutic work with children.
  • Become proficient in setting therapeutic boundaries, tracking progress and documenting emerging play themes.
  • Develop the necessary skills to undertake parental intake sessions, therapeutic assessments, and parental reviews.
  • Understand and apply the fundamental principals involved in organising and maintaining a child centred therapeutic play space.

As this CPD Diploma is founded on an integrative approach, teaching methods will honour this philosophy and will include:

  • Clinical Application of Knowledge
  • One to One Supervision

All modules have both a theoretical and practical component. Some however, are more theoreticality based with an in-built practical application, whereas others are largely experiential with theoretical underpinnings.
