Supervisors Forum - Dublin

Presenter and topic to be confirmed.

Programme Outline: This  programme is based around a therapeutic model for working with co-dependent adults and young people who come from an emotionally abusive relationship /and or a neglectful family of origin.  It also highlights how co-dependency can be central to many addictions.  Being goal focused, this model encourages the helping professional to be aware of their own co-dependency, and how it might impact on their client work.  It supports the professional to take an interactive role in their client’s recovery (check www.margaretparkes.ie for more information).

Programme Details: Definition of a co-dependent,   awareness of how our own co-dependency/narcissism might affect the quality of our work as professionals,   identifying the co-dependent  supervisee/therapist in a session,   exploring co-dependency as a central addiction,  exploration of the value in naming this condition for our clients, understanding  the thinking disorders that co-dependency leads to and how they come about,  understanding what we mean by a narcissistic family system,  and its link with co-dependent thinking and behaviours,   understanding unhealthy  narcissism and it’s link with co-dependency,   understanding why the co-dependent and the narcissist are attracted to each other and how this awareness is vital in our work as supervisor, keeping  our own narcissism healthy in the supervision session, the link between ADHD, addiction and co-dependency and supporting our supervisee to spot it.
