National Green Ribbon Campaign launched [04/05/18]

May Campaign to encourage people in Ireland to end mental health stigma

See Change is rolling out a month long national Green Ribbon Campaign to encourage people in Ireland to End Mental Health Stigma this May 2018. Stigma is a barrier to recovery for many people but 60 ambassadors and 100+ partner organisations are working together to put a stop to stigma.

500,000 green ribbons will be distributed nationwide and free of charge as a visual symbol to end the stigma surrounding mental health difficulties. Research conducted ahead of 2017’s Green Ribbon campaign showed that four in 10 people would conceal a mental health difficulty from family, friends or colleagues.

You don’t need to be an expert to start talking about mental health or have all the answers. Sometimes the most helpful thing you can do is to let someone know you are there for them and simply listen.

Pick up a Green Ribbon at your local Irish Rail station or Boots Stores as a symbol for starting conversation about mental health. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Hold a coffee morning or a ‘Walk and Talk’ for your community group or workplace. Order Green Ribbons and advertise your event using our customisable events’ posters. Don't forget to share your pictures on social media using #GreenRibbonIrl
