Workshop Outline: Narcissism is on a continuum, a spectrum of behavior that ranges from healthy normal narcissism to extreme pathological narcissism. Extreme narcissists are not just vain and irritating....they are dangerous. This workshop primarily concertrates on looking at "narcissistic personality traits" among the nurmal population - behaviours and attitudes that may or may not go far enough to warrant a clinical diagnosis. However, this behaviour is bad enough to cause total destruction to unsuspecting people as they try to live their lives. This common type narcissism is the cause of most hardship done to individuals within families, romantic relationships, friendships, and the workplace. It is these victims of narcissistic abuse that end up in the therapy daily. However, most therapists are ill equipped to recognize unhealthy narcissism in the therapy room, or the effects of narcissistic abuse on the victim. this workshop provides this insight and Christine will outline the various strategies that counsellors can utilitze in recognizing narcisstic traits.
