Presenter Bio: Dr. Eoin Galavan is a Senior Clinical and Counselling Psychologist with North Dublin Adult Mental Health Service. He is also the Clinical Lead Service Co ordinator and Supervising Senior Psychologist for the North Dublin Assessment and Treatment of Suicide service. This service works with suicide patients using the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) model. Dr. Eoin Galavan is a clinical tutor and supervising Clinical Psychologist on the Doctoral Program in Trinity College, Dublin. He is also an occasional Lecturer at Trinity College (Working with borderline Personality Disorder and Assessing and Treating Suicidality)
Outline: The goal of this workshop is to provide a space within which to explore the challenges of working with suicidal clients. To explore the psychology of suicide and to practice/role play the CAMS (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality) model of suicide assessment and treatment planning. One will also learn about a valued set of psychological ideas to be drawn on when working with suicide patients and develop further the skill set of assessing and managing suicidality. The workshop will be largely discursive in nature, with presentation slides, live demonstration, role play and audio visual material included
